How to Give More Captivating Presentations

PowerPoint is not dead. PowerPoint is not going away. Please embrace that fact and accept the reality that you will continue to use it for the rest of your professional life. There are stories of people giving phenomenal presentations using only props or a whiteboard. If I could draw like the folks at RSA Animate, I would never use slides. But until I’m that adept at drawing or presenting, I’m going to add “slideshow” to my list of constraints, and then have some fun with it.

I found the following presentation on SlideShare, an incredible site where people post their slide decks. It’s amazing what people will freely share. Mint.com posted one of their pre-launch venture capital pitch decks. Spend some time exploring the site and you won’t be disappointed.

Back to the presentation. It’s by Jan Schultink, an ex McKinsey & Company consultant who now specializes in presentation design. I was riveted by the stunning images and minimalist approach. You will be too.
